Grafton is the Gi Group Holding brand dedicated to the recruitment and selection of specialized profiles in the Engineering & Industry, Finance HR, Banking & Insurance, and Sales & Marketing segments. In partnership with our client, we are recruiting a Piping Design Engineer.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the global engineering strategy for the company’s products that align with the organization’s market position and enable tailored design solutions to be developed that meet the specific needs and challenges of cloud-based environments.
  • Provide piping design expertise, as part of the global engineering team, proposing creative solutions, supporting a culture of creativity, innovation and excellence.
  • Drive the design and engineering of integrated piping systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and project specifications for data centre liquid cooling applications.
  • Work cross functionally with internal teams (i.e. commercial, technical, project management, engineering, manufacturing) to identify new opportunities, develop conceptual designs and drawings to be presented to customers and prospective customers.
  • Develop detailed piping designs, including 3D models, pdf drawings, and piping layouts for Data Centre projects.
  • Perform piping stress analysis to ensure system integrity under various operating conditions.
  • Specify piping materials, components, and fittings based on project requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate piping systems with overall project designs.
  • Prepare and review piping specifications, bill of materials (BOM), and technical reports.
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting of piping systems.
  • Contribute to project cost estimation and ensure designs are completed within budget and timeline.
  • Utilize cutting-edge engineering tools and methodologies to create compelling presentations and prototypes.


Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Education: A bachelor’s degree in Design, Mechanical/Building Services Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: Proven experience of no less than 8 years in a piping design and engineering role, preferably in a regional context within critical environments such as data centre, construction, pharmaceuticals, semiconductor or oil & gas industry.

Skills

  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols.
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling and piping design software (e.g. Solidworks, Onshape, PDMS, SP3D, CADWorx, Plant3D, Revit, AutoCAD).
  • Experience designing prefabricated, modular piping systems will be advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of piping instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting and modifying P&IDs.
  • Expertise in pipe stress analysis tools. (CAESAR II or similar) and Knowledge of industry codes and standards.
  • Experience developing new products and taking them from concept to prototype to production.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based environments and their impact on design requirements is preferred.
  • Excellent proficiency in English (main language of communication with customers & colleagues globally)


Offer:

  • Pursuant to Directive (EU) 2023/970, the entry-level gross annual base salary for this role is €36.000, plus a meal allowance of €9.50/day, paid via a meal card.
